Hong Kong can be a baffling city to find accommodation in; there are different islands, where do you need to be? and prices can be astronomical so if you’re on a budget choices can be limited. In HK we always try to be within a few minutes of an MTR station. The very efficient rail system makes getting around Hong Kong a breeze. Through our searching we came across the Rosedale Hotel in Kowloon which offers really reasonable prices for Hong Kong so, we checked in to check it out.

Rooms at the Rosedale are compact but efficient, they are well designed to make the most of the space and have everything you need. Bathrooms on first inspection are open to the room with clear glass dividing them but with the press of a button (which The Wandering Child may have pressed 80 thousand times) the glass becomes frosted and privacy is restored.

The rooms were very clean and really really quiet during our stay.

We loved the window seat in our room, we had picnics there and gazed out on Hong Kong; watching ships in the harbour and seeing rainstorms roll in. The Wandering Child literally spent hours sitting there.

Room service is available at the Rosedale although we were so busy out exploring we didn’t get a chance to sample it. We did pop up and check out the SkyZone deck and lounge on the 30th floor with stunning views of Hong Kong Harbour. This is a bar but kids were welcome and they had plenty of juice on tap.

The staff were all friendly and the concierge was great for giving us directions and making suggestions on how to get around. Everyone spoke fabulous English so there are no communication problems here.

The Rosedale is within easy walking distance to Olympic MTR station (most of the walk is through an air-conditioned shopping center.) and Olympic is an ideal station for those visiting Hong Kong Disneyland. Olympic station is on the Tung Chung line which is the very line you need for Disneyland. Super easy! We also took a taxi from Disneyland back to the Rosedale Hotel after the fireworks one night and we were back at the hotel in 20 minutes and the fare was under $200 Hong Kong Dollars.

Getting to Disneyland

From Olympic Station take the Tung Chung line (signs are plentiful) to Sunny Bay, this is where you change to the Disneyland Resort train for 1 stop and there you are at Hong Kong’s version of the happiest place on Earth. Simple!

We would gladly stay again!

Thanks to the Rosedale Hotel Kowloon for hosting our stay. As always all opinions are my own.
