The Princes Gate Hotel is a grand old building at the end of Arawa Street in the centre of Rotorua. This old lady has stood here looking fabulous since 1897 and is a famous Rotorua landmark. We were lucky enough to have a short stay here and loved it.
The hotel is in a great location for exploring Rotorua, Arawa street is where local buses leave from, its just around the corner from iSite the tourism info board, minutes walk from the stunning Lake Rotorua and directly opposite Government gardens.
While I checked in, The Wandering Child explored and was in awe of all the grandeur and history of the property. There are chandeliers, winding stair cases, fireplaces and antique furniture.
Bathrooms have a bath to keep the kids happy (or for mum to have a soak with a glass of wine). Some lovely bath products are provided too.
For The Wandering Child its all about the pool though, so off we went in search of the Princes Gate’s hot springs pool. There are 3 of varying temperatures and they can be quite hot so mum or dad need to check the temperature first before little ones jump in.
We found the pool that was the right temperature for us and had a lovely long soak. (p.s. the bottom one is coolest)
We had a great sleep in our comfy bed and enjoyed breakfast the next morning which consisted of all the usual; bacon and eggs, juices, fruit, cereals, toast etc.
We really enjoyed our stay at this boutique hotel. Choose the Princes Gate for its central location and the history of the property apparent all around and preserved in so many little touches.
Thanks so much to the Princes Gate Hotel for having us. As always all opinions are my own.
