Legoland hotel…Is it worth the cost? Yes, Yes and more Yes!

We loved this hotel and it has become one of our favourites worldwide. (If you ask the six year old, this is the BEST hotel, ever, anywhere in the world).

Legoland Hotel Malaysia is located just steps from the theme park entry and guests are given early entry to the theme park (30 minutes.)

The fun starts as soon as you enter the lobby, we were greeted by a Lego pirate character. The lobby features a kids castle themed play area with a huge Lego dragon. There is a pirate ship surrounded by Lego for kids to play with while mum or dad check in.  There is so much to look at and play with in the lobby, be prepared to chase your kids from one thing to another at the speed of light.

Check in is very well organised and moves well (even at peak check in times). If you check in early you will be given a number to quote on your return to collect your room key at 4pm. Check in and out times are strictly adhered to.

We arrived on a morning flight, checked in, stored our bags and headed into the park. If you purchase a package through the hotel including theme park tickets, on check in the staff will give you the park tickets so you can get busy having fun in the park immediately.

There are so many fun features at this hotel; there are little Lego touches every where; sculptures, Lego carpet, disco elevators that play music and have disco lights, character meet and greets, kids computer games area where you can dance with Emmet, Duplo building areas for younger children, Lego or Duplo in every guest room and the list goes on and on.

Before we get to the rooms, I’d like to mention how amazing the staff are. They are so very friendly and engaging with kids and they couldn’t do enough to help. When my son decided to rock out to the music in the lobby at 6am and have a bit of a dance, a staff member joined him. When I left him alone at a table in the restaurant to go and get food from the buffet, a staff member came to hang out with him.

On to the rooms; The Legoland Hotel Malaysia offers 3 different room themes; pirate, kingdom and adventure. Its a very tough choice because all are very cool. We chose the adventure theme and were really happy we had.  Each entire floor of the hotel is themed. As soon as the disco elevator doors open on your floor the immersion in your theme begins . On the Adventure floor treasure maps and scorpions feature in the carpet. Lego scarab beetles and explorers are dotted around the elevator lobby.

In the rooms everything is Lego themed. Each room has Lego sculptures, Lego themed bedding, toiletries, carpet, walls. It is literally wall to wall Lego.

The rooms feature a kids area with bunk beds and a separate parents bedroom with a large double bed, each room has its own TV and of course kids channels are available.

Our favourite feature of the room was the treasure hunt puzzle. Each room has a locked safe and a puzzle sheet, kids must follow clues around the room to work out the combination for the safe. Once they unlock it they get Lego treats to keep and take home.

Rooms are super clean and comfortable, they are also very quiet.

We tried both the Bricks restaurant and Di Mattoni Italian Restaurant. Bricks has a huge buffet where you will find food to suit every taste and Di Mattoni were very accommodating for fussy kids or allergy requests. Di Mattoni has a cool Lego mural on the wall (Yoda during our stay) that kids can help create.

Breakfast is included with the room rate and the variety is HUGE! Every conceivable choice for breakfast is represented here. (initially I though it odd that there was no egg station but then found the chef was set up out on the balcony of the restaurant.)

Food is good quality and the price of the buffet dinner at Bricks was very reasonable.

For other food options nearby there is a small mall area at the entrance to Legoland with several restaurants including some local fast food type options and a convenience store.

Even the roof top pool is Lego themed and filled with floating foam Lego brick toys to play and build with. We had a quick swim here but when your next door neighbour is the Legoland Water Park the hotel pool doesn’t hold as much appeal.

We found it so easy to come and go from the theme park to cool off in our room or to get changed after a splash in the Legoland water park before heading back into Legoland theme park. Staying at the Legoland hotel helped us get the most out of the theme park. On our previous visit to Legoland Malaysia,  we did not stay at the Legoland hotel so once the little guy got hot, bothered and tired our theme park visit was over, whilst the Legoland hotel meant we could have a rest and go back to the park for more fun.

Check out was made very simple with a drop box for express check out. Once again we left our bags in storage and went to the park. Taxi’s were easy to come by when required and there is also an airport bus that operates several times per day.

For the ultimate Legoland theme park experience, stay at the Legoland Malaysia Hotel, you wont be sorry! To read about our visits to the theme park visit Legoland Malaysia and Legoland Malaysia at 4  years of age. We hope to be back soon for another awesome stay…perhaps this time in a pirate themed room.

For single parents; This hotel felt incredibly safe and easy, the staff made us feel very welcome and could certainly be relied on if you needed any kind of assistance to make your trip more wonderful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to other single parent travellers. I have stayed at several hotels in Johor Bahru and as a single woman on my own with a small child I felt the most comfortable at Legoland Hotel by far.
